You’re invited to join us for the next session of the Linux on IBM Z Executive Advisory Council. We launched this council in 2002 in order to garner your insights and foster communications among the IBM Z Linux community. We are grateful for Verisk’s gracious invitation to host this council session at their auditorium, particularly given our tremendous gains in attendance and popularity.

This quarter’s council focus is on the IBM z14 announcement and GA.   The council is pleased to have Turan Chopra from IBM hardware Offering Management present.   Turan will be providing an update on the new hardware as well as LinuxONE.  After Turan, we have distinguished guest Bill Bitner from IBM z/VM Focus and Care.  Bill will be discussing z/VM exploitation of z14 themes.  Next on agenda, we are pleased to have Richard Young from IBM.  Richard is a leader in the field in terms of Linux on IBM Z enablement.  Richard will be providing an update on Linux and its exploitation of the new z14 features.   Following Richard, we have John Mertic from the Linux Foundation.  John is the Program leader for the Linux Foundation Open Mainframe Project.   He will be providing an update on initiatives taken on in 2016- 2017 including an internship project update.    Last on the agenda the council is pleased to have Travis Wright from Microsoft.   Travis will providing an update on the recent announcement of SQL Server on Linux support.  Travis is seeking feedback on whether SQL Server should be offered for Linux on IBM Z.
